Cyclones Battle to a Draw! |

The Sherwood Cyclones battled to a thrilling 2-2 draw on Saturday with the Crestwood Cougars. Prolific Cyclones scorer Stephen Jones opened the scoring with a nice header from Midfieldrer Cam Wilson in the 33rd minute after Cougars striker Ali Mallen drilled the upright with a long curving kick from the middle. The match remained one nothing until the 65th minute with Cougars striker Milan Juevo making a nice stab at the ball from a corner kick by Lenny Dresler. The Cougars continued to press hard and were finally rewarde with a nice tic tac toe play from Dresler to Juevo and finally Tom Smithson for an easy tap in at 78 minutes. The Cyclones appeared to be listless and looked defeated after the back breaking late goal by Smithson until the Cyclones caught a break as Cougars defender Kristin Lowe misplayed the ball and once again Stephen Jones took advantage with a nice kick to the top corner with less than 3 minutes left in the Match.
Notes
Cyclones defender Chris May was injured when she collided with a Cougars defender battling for a header. She was knocked a little woosy but after the game declered herself ok and ready to play on. |
